BALKON is a variable solid wood planting system with online education and mentoring service, especially developed for vegetable, fruit or herbs cultivation on balconies or communal spaces. 

Description of the startup

Nowadays, there are a lot of people living in urban environments who lost their relationship with nature.

Our goal is to bring the gardening experience closer to them in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. With our products, we offer an opportunity to consume their own produce, and also learn about gardening through our educational services.

What is your product/service?

BALKON is a modular box system designed especially for kitchen gardens. Our product is premium quality, we use only environmentally friendly, innovative materials, the boxes are assembled with traditional wood joinery. Systems can be expanded in all directions, able to create walls, columns, pyramids, space dividers, so everyone can customize them according to their own ideas and space. They are suitable for both indoors and outdoors use. We use a traditional olla clay pot irrigation to reduce water consumption.

The systems are suitable for private use on terraces, balconies and also for corporate use in office buildings, hotels, restaurants, factories, educational institutions or museums. For corporate usage our team is offering complete services from plant design to purchasing, tips, advice and mentoring.

What’s the biggest challenge you are facing at the moment?

Now we start to develop our marketing and sales plan, and entering the market this summer in Hungary, next year in Austria.

We’re looking for a team member with horticulturist experience. And building partnerships with various gardening shops.
